First, the prerequisites, all posts on this blog and any Tweets from @Virtual_Tom that may show in the sidebars are my own. They are strictly my opinions or from my experience and in no way reflect the opinion of my employer.
I have over 20 years IT experience including Microsoft, Novell (yes, Netware), Linux, telecom and storage. I began using VMware with Workstation 1 to hide my Linux installs that were frowned upon then. I started using ESX in 2004 with version 2 of ESX. I’ve designed and supported of a large regional banks virtual infrastructure for 14 years, from 2004 to 2018. In May of 2018 I joined Crossfuze and their Managed Services team, in that role I am the Sr Systems Engineer supporting VMware (and other things as needed) for HealthNow, NY. I have been involved in many beta programs and customer advisory sessions with VMware. I’ve spoken at VMworld in 2006, 2007, and 2016 and at several other venues including Tech Talks and University hacking competitions. I’m VCP #968 for versions 2,3 and 5 for Datacenter Virtualization and version 6 or Network Virtualization, and have been a vExpert since 2009 to the present. In 2005 I co-founded the Buffalo VMUG and am still a co-leader. We also are part of the Upstate NY UserCon with the Rochester and Syracuse groups.
